No.1 Giltspur Street

Hatmet successfully tendered this two stage contract to strip out and construct a 3500m2 office building across six floors.  Located on the south of the historic Smithfield Market in the City of London, the office required a high level of logistics and co-ordination with other building users. The project consisted of the strip out of the existing internal fabric and adaptations of the existing services and adding kitchen and touch down areas to each floor of the building.

The offices, designed by NGA, are to allow ‘agile’ working within the building. This allows for floors to be adapted and introduce new office workspaces easily and quickly should a redesign be required.  The offices, constructed with plasterboard ceilings/ partitions and metal pan ceilings to the office areas, which achieves high acoustic values. Aluminium glazed Crittal type partitions were installed to give a contemporary feel to the meeting offices on each floor of the building.

The lower ground floor or ‘club space’ area demanded the finest quality of workmanship due to the specialist finishes to this area. The wall and specialist ceilings required co-ordination of the new HVAC that was required to condition the basement area and to keep the acoustic levels; requiring high attenuation of the services to the meeting rooms.  The joinery, seating, wall and floor finishes required high quality levels of finishes to achieve an amazing working environment which allows people to enjoy the building offices and facilities offered by the Landmark and GNA designs.
