Hatmet were instructed by Hermes Investment Management to strip out and demolish the existing retail unit situated on Coventry Street, London. This logistically challenging project required the Hatmet team to construct a new steel concrete encased structure, ready to accept the new Portland stone glazed façade. The new façade was constructed using Portland stone and large double glazed shopfronts with a portal stone framed entrance designed by architects TP Bennett’s.
The new façade forms part of the first phase of the refurbishment of the 1400m2 of Haymarket House. The shell and core works, included the removal of structural slabs, reconfiguration of the electrical and mechanical services. Hatmet carried out these works under a temporary structure and confided working areas, due to the location and basement tenancies.
Working with the Client’s design team; CNM, Hoare Lea and project managers, Adams Consulting and Gleeds, Hatmet handed this project back to the client to enable the fit out to commence.
