Project

Lakeside Shopping Centre

Hatmet undertook the installation of the new dining pods at Intu Lakeside.  Intu contracted Hatmet with its design team, Leslie Jones Architects, Workman and Cudd Bentley.

Hatmet installed a truly unique dining experience; the works took place over the lake where Hatmet and it’s supply chain installed Studio Tate design with LJA technical design input.

The new pods have their own shutter and lighting installed with moving roof blades and a new glass canopy to bridge the walkway from the restaurants, to the pods, running some 170m along the Boardwalk.  All of the works were undertaken out of hours, whilst the restaurants traded during the day.

The project required difficult logistics and open communication with the Intu project team and the restaurant management and staff.

Whilst all 9 restaurants remained open and trading, Hatmet removed and reinstated around 10,000 sq foot of timber decking to enable the installation of the structural steel elements under the decking.

The pods give an all year dining experience to the existing restaurants, with the pods LED strip lighting, and are heated with speakers that give an enjoyable dining experience.

Each pod is controlled by the restaurants to allow for their unique requirements.
